Amidst a remarkable political, diplomatic and media presence in a famous Cairo hotel, the Azerbaijani Embassy in Egypt celebrated its 30th Independence Day, outlined with historical Egyptian-Azerbaijani relations, which are witnessing a remarkable development at the present time. Thus, this was stated by the Ambassador of Azerbaijan, Mr. Toral Razayev, as follows, documenting the meanings of the highness between the two countries.
Ladies and gentlemen..Dear guests,
* The first democracy!
Today we celebrate Independence Day – May 28, which is the national holiday of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and we celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Arab Republic of Egypt. On May 28, 1918, the Republic of Azerbaijan declared the establishment of the first democratic state in the East. The number of political parties represented in the Azerbaijani Parliament was eleven at that time.
The right of women to vote and stand for elections was recognized for the first time in the Islamic East in the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.
* Regardless of religion or ethnicity!
There was a full right of every Azerbaijani citizen to vote and stand for elections, regardless of their religion or ethnicity. These democratic traditions, which were established more than 100 years ago in Azerbaijan, continue successfully today. At present, 56 official political parties are registered in Azerbaijan. Nine of them are compliant in Parliament. Currently, 21 television channels, 25 radio channels and more than 30 newspapers operate in Azerbaijan. And the use of the Internet is now completely unlimited.
* Armenia .. violating the right of neighborliness and international conventions!
For 30 years, Azerbaijan’s biggest problem has been the occupation of 20 percent of our land by Armenia. 4 UN Security Council resolutions, and other resolutions, statements and recommendations of the Non-Aligned Movement, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the European Union, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and other international and regional organizations have not been implemented.
* Land uprising.. liberation.. purification.. reconstruction!
In 2020, following a large-scale counterattack as a result of another provocation by Armenia, the Republic of Azerbaijan liberated its occupied territories. At present, these devastated areas of our country are being reconstructed. Comprehensive infrastructure projects are being implemented, and new cities and settlements are being built in them. At the same time our areas are being cleared of mines.
* Our relationship with Egypt is the best witness to the “friendliness” with others!
Our main dream is to live in peace. Our main request from Armenia is to sign a peace agreement between the two countries. For this, the border between the two countries must be demarcated and clarified. The foreign policy of Azerbaijan is based on friendly relations with all countries, development of economic cooperation, international law and custom. Our 30 years of friendly and fraternal relations with the Arab Republic of Egypt are a shining example of this.
* 54 documents.. the rich harvest between Azerbaijan and Egypt despite the nose of ‘COVID-19!
Over the course of 30 years, 54 documents covering various fields have been signed between our two countries. The meetings of the joint committee between the two countries are held regularly. Political consultations are taking place between the foreign ministries of the two countries, and parliamentary relations between the two countries are being strengthened. As we know, for two years the entire world has been in a difficult situation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This had a negative impact on the economic relations between our two countries, especially tourism. However, since this year, direct flights between our two countries have been resumed.
Despite the post-war and post-pandemic conditions, Azerbaijan’s economy is dynamic and developing, growing by 7.2 percent.
Before I conclude, I would like to thank you for accepting our invitation and for your attendance to this event.
